Default How does one become a trusted editor?

Is there an application process? Do the existing staff choose the editors? Or is there generally no change to the ranks? Just curious.

I've actually forgotten which permissions the trusted editors have over the normal members, so I can't remember how I became one. "/

I would say constant activity on the forums/database is the number one requirement.

you don't have "pending" anymore
can delete scans, tracklists, etc.
can link artists, publishers and products (I don't remember if regs can add new artists, publishers and products)

I think it's all

Regular people can only add new artists.

A member is promoted if they are noticed by staff to be both frequent and accurate editors. There's nothing really scientific about it. If you think you should be promoted but haven't, but best thing to do is take a look at your recent past submissions and see if staff has been fixing any of your submissions, and learn from that.

For staff, we look for people who are good at fixing other people's submissions because that is the main difference between staff and trusted.

There is also a rarely-used demotion for members who submit poor albums and show no improvement.

there is another way to become trusted

you submit and edit every day every week till the staff has enough of modding you
and voila, you become trusted like that (cf. whatkind ;p)

There are other ways that can go. Keep in mind there are a few people here whose accounts are prohibited from submitting new albums.
